A Look Back at Arizona Cantilena Chorale Memories

We’ve updated the album on our About page with some of our favorite photos from the most recent concert season, which means it’s time to look back fondly on some memories from previous seasons. We’re thankful for all the Arizona Cantilena Chorale members past and present who have made music come alive in the Valley of the Sun.

Upcoming Concerts: The Three Stephens

The Arizona Cantilena Chorale has just begun preparing for our next set of concerts for the spring. We will be doing the music of the 3 Stephens — Stephen Foster, Stephen Sondheim and Stephen Schwartz — bringing some light-hearted songs from the past and familiar tunes from several Broadway musicals.

Arizona Cantilena Chorale’s spring concert series will celebrate the music of Stephen Foster, Stephen Sondheim and Stephen Schwartz.

We can’t believe this season is almost over! This concert set will conclude a full season of a wide variety of music from operas and operettas, Randall Thompson’s Frostiana, a warm selection of Christmas pieces, and Sacred & Spiritual: Songs that Uplift the Spirit.

Mark your calendars for our concert weekend May 4, 5, and 6. Find details here.

AZCC Welcomes New Members!

We want to welcome two new members to the Arizona Cantilena Chorale this season. Meridith Borta joined us just a few months ago and is singing with us in the soprano section and Nathan Arch also has joined us and is singing tenor as well as playing organ when we need him to.

Thank You for Being Part of Arizona Cantilena Chorale’s Success!

The Arizona Cantilena Chorale, a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization, is currently in its third year. We are excited about the excellent music and new opportunities in different areas of the Valley planned for this season as we continually reach out to the audiences and communities for your kind support and appreciation. Our repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary choral works and we continue to create and develop a homogenous vocal sound. We have forged new friendships and partnerships in our mission to prepare and provide excellent choral music.

Such partnerships have included performing at the Taliesin West facility in Scottsdale, celebrating the 150th birthday of world renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright and the 80th anniversary of his magnificent creation Taliesin West. We have brought a variety of music to enthusiastic audiences in local community churches including Church of the Master Presbyterian Church, Dayspring United Methodist Church and First Presbyterian Church of Mesa. We were pleased to have been invited this year to perform at Gold Canyon United Methodist Church in Gold Canyon and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Phoenix and have been invited to return again in the near future.

We presently rehearse at the Performing Arts Center located on the Mesa Community College Dobson Campus in Mesa. This facility opened in 2014, and is an exceptional facility for performing and rehearsing. We appreciate the continued support of Mesa Community College over the past year. The MCC Red Mountain RAP center has been one of our favorite rehearsal and performing sites over the years and we look forward to this continuing relationship.

It is a great honor to welcome Grammy Award winner Paul Phoenix as our Artist in Residence this year. Paul has become a great friend of the chorale and performed with us last year, joining us as a guest artist in the recording of our first CD of Christmas music entitled “I Hear Christmas”. He brings his vast experience of ensemble singing as a longtime member of the world-renowned and Grammy Award-winning King’s Singers and his work with choral groups throughout the world to provide coaching and consultation for our group.

As the Arizona Cantilena Chorale continues to build support and visibility in the community we welcome new opportunities to share our music. We appreciate the support of our audiences and say THANK YOU for your kind and generous support. For more information please contact either:
