Arizona Cantilena Chorale

It’s been a wonderful experience to spend three days working with Cantilena Chorale. My work as the founder of PurpleVocals means that I spend time working with choral groups AND their directors, helping them to find their ‘identity,’ building audiences and of course choosing programs which inspire and engage. The Cantilena Chorale have fully embraced this concept and I was truly impressed with their progress and willingness to learn new ideas during my visit. I am a long-time vocalist and have sung in numerous choral settings. I have only recently discovered Cantilena and must say that I have quickly come to appreciate the precision and overall balance in their presentation. It is obvious that superior individual voices are contained within the group, but the blended sound comes through in a highly professional and pleasing way. It is unusual to find a group in the East Valley capable of performing music of this caliber and doing it with the quality which Cantilena has achieved. Pure delight! Keep it coming!

I’ve been recording Cantilena for several years now, and I am impressed with just how great they sound…they are better than ever. Looking forward to recording their concerts in future!

What a beautiful blend of voices in wonderful music. Choral music is difficult to find, but Cantilena provides a much needed, quality musical experience. What a treasure.

There’s something about choral music, about being in a room and combining your voice with other’s, that is so moving and, for me, necessary for my happiness! And THIS group of singers is special…a more talented group is hard to find. But more than that, we have become like family, which is priceless!

Listening to the Arizona Cantilena Chorale this past year—while living in a world of seemingly increasing words of hate and acts of violence—has been an overwhelming cleansing experience for my heart and soul. Whether at practice or in concert, their gorgeous and masterful blending of the human voice in songs of love and hope produced winds of peace and joy for me. Thank you, Chorale members.

As one of the original members of Arizona Cantilena Chorale, I have experienced the tremendous growth and maturity of this exceptional singing group over the past eleven years. With each rehearsal, we are challenged to become better vocalists and musicians. It has been a great honor to learn and work with a true master of choral music with his enthusiasm and dedication to excellence and his extensive knowledge of vocal music.

Music has become an important part of my life, and singing with Arizona Cantilena Chorale is a highlight of my week. The opportunity to sing with talented musicians and being able to meet high expectations… as well as my own personal need to stretch and grow musically is one of the most rewarding activities I participate in on a regular basis. With a family and 2 jobs it can be difficult to make time to participate in the choir…but it is easily worth the effort and the rewards are tremendous.

Cantilena is an exceptional chorale group. I always enjoy their concerts. From Bach to Lauridsen, their repertoire is diverse and flawlessly performed. I can’t wait to see what’s coming next season.
